Full renovation of Cotswold manor farmhouse
The project was an extensive renovation of a Grade II listed manor farmhouse owned by the National Trust. Our main challenge was to bring the house up to the standards of 21st Century living whilst respecting and often showcasing the fabric and character of a beautiful period house.
We were responsible for the overall management of the planning process, building control, and all building works through to client handover. Subcontractors included plumbers, electricians; stonemasons; Cotswold stone roofers; carpenters; joiners; lime plasterers; wood burning stove installers; traditional cast iron radiator restorers; oak parquet floor fitters; interior designer; automated gate installers.
A significant aspect of the project, as is often the case with refurbishments of period properties, was managing client expectations and controlling costs of potential additional works involved once sections of the structure of the house were exposed. Remedial work included repairs to staircases and floor joists, as well as treatment of original timbers for wood worm.
Works were completed in line with budget expectations.
